Mr. Trump, Release Gitmo Prisoners

Regarding President Trump’s latest tweet about Gitmo prisoners, he must have received really bad advice. How do you know they are extremely dangerous people? And if they were our soldiers, how would your policy be different?

Do we want our soldiers never to be released? By not releasing Gitmo prisoners won’t Trump break the Geneva Conventions and the laws we established after the Nuremberg Trials?

Indefinite Detention is what tyrants do, not presidents of constitutional republics. Gulags serve tyrants, the military industrial complex, propaganda media and the endless war on terror. They do not serve the American people, liberty, nor do they follow the Golden Rule to do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. Most of these men were probably homeland defenders and never given a fair trial.

Mr. Trump, Just ask, “What would Jesus do?” It is really that easy. You could also ask, “What would Satan do?” and then do the opposite.

CIA repeatedly lied

Torture “regularly resulted in fabricated information,” said committee chairwoman Dianne Feinstein

She told the Senate the torture program was “morally, legally and administratively misguided” and “far more brutal than people were led to believe”.

Contractor psychologists James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen played a critical role in establishing the torture program in 2002. In the report, both Mitchell and Jessen are identified by the pseudonyms Swigert and Dunbar. A company they formed to contract their services to the CIA was worth more than $180m, and by the time of the contract’s 2009 cancellation, they had received $81m in payouts.

Flashback: Rumsfield said Rumsfeld all Gitmo prisoners were captured on a battlefield

Agar: But the perception out there is different. I said that to somebody in the hall the other day, nobody died at GTMO, and the guy went, “That’s a lie. Eighteen people have died.” It’s amazing that there’s a different story out there.

Rumsfeld: Well, there is. If you think of the people down there, these are people all of whom were captured on a battlefield. They’re terrorists, trainers, bomb makers, recruiters, financiers, UBL’s body guards, would-be suicide bombers, probably the 20th hijacker, 9/11 hijacker. We’re learning a great deal of information about how al-Qaida operates, and able to stop other terrorist attacks. The transparency’s just been enormous. The International Committee of the Red Cross has been down there since the beginning. Their media’s had over 400 visits by a thousand journalists. Lawyers for detainees go down there. Congressmen and Senators go down there. I’m amazed at the misinformation that’s flying around.
